Skinfood: Omija Whitening Teabag Toner Review

After I had finished my first bottle of Skinfood's Tomato Whitening Toner, I purchased this. Every time I find myself in their store, I'm always attracted to the Omija Whitening Teabag Toner since I find it a unique product.

And you shall find out why.

Omija Whitening Teabag Toner is a toner that comes in two items:

  • Toner Liquid

  • Omija Teabag

Yes, it comes with a teabag. I'll explain later what it's for.

I bought mine off the mall store less 10% from the original price (thank you, membership card!). Its original price is around P2,550 (roughly $60.86) for a 155ml of the product, so if I were you, go to your favorite online reseller or, get if from a relative/friend in S. Korea.

For every Omija Whitening Teabag Toner bought, you SHOULD receive its cheek mask sheet (10 pieces of sheets of cheek mask). It really comes with the Toner, and not sold separately or not a "promo thing".

Skinfood claims that:

A toner with a cold-brew dry Omija tea bag and active contents that brightens skin using a patent-awarded Omija herb complex producing skin-lightening effects.

You've red it right. Apparently Skinfood has this Omija patent for them.

Patent No: Cosmetic ingredient mode with a medicinal herb complex of Omija, White Mulberry Bark and Licorice Root (Material Patent No. 10-0891294)

As for the Teabag, there's also a write-up for it:

Omija grown in Mungyeong

(Schizandra Chinensis Fruit)

Mungyeong is a highland at an altitude of 300 to 700 meters, whose natural conditions - sunlight and rain - are perfect for growth of omijas.

Omija Whitening Teabag Toner does not come as ready-to-use, as most toners are. You still need to do something. Below are the directions on what to do:

1. Tear of the teabag component from its pack.

2. Open the lid of the bottle and dip it in for 1 minute. Shake the toner gently while the teabag is still in it.

3. Remove the tea bag, Close the bottle.

The dipping instructions comes with the packaging, so no need to fret if you're not reading this upon dipping.

Make sure that before each use, you shake the bottle. When using the toner, you can:

  • Dispense it on a cotton pad and wipe it on your face

  • Use pals and pat the skin gently

  • Dispense on the cheek mask sheet and leave it on you face for a few minutes.

Skinfood also suggests that you use this within 3 to 4 months upon dipping, and to keep it refrigerated or store in a dry, cool place away from the sunlight.

Once you have dipped the teabag into the toner, you'd notice that the toner will turn into slightly brown, as compared to its original transparent color, just how tea normally is. Don't worry, it won't come out all brown on the cotton pad. The liquid is slightly runny and a little oily upon use. So combi to oily skinned people may not enjoy this as much as dry skinned ones (though SA said it was good for combi, which I doubt now).

I like the the smell of this thing. It's light, subtle and refreshing. But Tomato Whitening Toner still smells better for me. Hey, at least it didn't make me sneeze upon sniffing it. But those with extremely sensitive noses may not like it once it's on their faces already.

Did it whiten my skin? A little, but I feel like its more of temporary (more of brightening that whitening). What I like is that I do looked refreshed the next day. For whitening, I'd still go back to the Tomato Whitening Toner.

What I don't like is that this caused me pimples after a month's use. perhaps it's a bit too moisturizing for me? So no choice but to give it away to my mom. She loves this though, and helped her dry skin.

Given that, of course I won't buy it again. Such a waste though, what a novel product to try and a nice bottle to keep (bottle's made out of glass so handle with care!).

How about you? Will you still try this?

For those particular with the ingredients, here they are:

  1. There are also many medications/formulations to naturally whiten your skin - which you can prepare at home without any side effects. It is the best way to escape from harmful chemical cosmetics. It is also relevant that most skin care products costs much. But, as you are aware, formulations prepared at home can be the cheapest and effective way to whiten your skin naturally. Most home remedies can be sourced from ebooks which are sold on the internet, and most of them have many natural home made formulations and remedies described in step by step manner, so that it will be easy for you to prepare the same.
