Hi everyone! I'm so excited to share this item with you today. Even if I had loads of items have to do. And the backlogs that should go here first than this item. But I just had to share it just now!
Yesterday noon, I received an invitation via SMS from The Body Shop. Yes, I am a LYB (Love your body) member so I get these a lot. But this one was an invitation to take home The Body Shop's Vitamin E Cool BB Cream. All I had to do was reply a "yes" and to which location. They cited 2: SM Megamall for today while Trinoma for tomorrow. So of course I said yes since I'm so near Megamall!
So now, here it is!
This BB Cream is part of the Vitamin E line of The Body Shop. In fact, I think it's the only non-skin care in the line as of this writing. Like the rest of the line, it is housed in a baby pink container with the pink slowly going white to the middle of the packaging. Lifting from the The Body Shop website, here's the product description:

The BB Cream only comes in 50ml, which is not bad since normally you only need a little to cover your face. And for people like me who have tons of make-up, the size isn't so bad.
Like I said earlier, I got mine for free (and quite proud to rub it in). However, this will be sold for P695 (roughly $16.66) by the end of May or start of June 2013 in the stores. Korean BB Cream's price range here in my country is somewhere in that level so it's still acceptable.
Like normal BB creams, it's housed in a nice little fat tube. It's quite sanitary for those who are iffy in dipping their hands in the product. The plastic of the tube is easy to squeeze too.
Once dispensed, the cream is very thick in terms of consistency. The color is somewhat a little darker as compared to the normal 23 Natural Beige of most Korean concealers. Mind you, this BB Cream will only come in 1 shade - as they claim, it's a one-size-fits-all item. It has this slight good scenting kind of sunblock going on. For those who are not sensitive to smell, you'd barely notice it. You have to sniff it off the tube.
Upon blending, it is rather cool/cold on the skin. It is definitely not the oily kind that you feel like your face is some fried egg. It's not matte too. It is rather moisturizing and felt very light on skin. The coverage is quite sheer - it will only hide those minor redness, dark circles (if placed under eyes), and small pores. It was able to somewhat mask my soft red spots, all thanks to acne marks caused by something I tried few weeks back (which you shall see soon). But for my horrible panda eyes and redder spots, concealer had to be out on. It is good at making your skin tone even. I have patches of lighter skin on some parts of my face, and this cream made it look even on my face.
Apparently, there was a catch with this freebie. The sales lady will ask you to sign a waiver, your initial take on the product and some photos of before and after the use of BB Cream. At first, I felt somewhat against it and wanted to walk away. But, I stayed since it's my first time to have a makeover from The Body Shop given that I am one of their regulars and had been a member for so long. So yeah, I signed and jumped right in. Not only she used this BB Cream, but also placed color on my face. So I can share to you how to use this. Read below:
- Cleanse! Important to cleanse and moisturize, as part of your prepping up your skin for the day.
- Apply BB Cream LIGHTLY. The sales lady used only a little to cover my face, and a somewhat wet liquid foundation brush to even it out, giving an even and flawless finish.
- For spots that can't be covered by BB Cream (such as really red spots), apply concealer. The sales lady placed a 02 stick concealer on my redder spots.
- Settle it down with powder. She settled it using a loose powder, I think or one of the popular pacts of The Body Shop.
- Add color on your cheeks, eyes and lips.
And she was done with my face for less than 10 minutes. A good, fresh look - perfect for going to the office. They did say this was their target market afterall.
In terms of wear-ability I had it on my face since 2PM and was able to wash it off at 10PM. Around 6PM, I noticed that it was still on my face and I looked "glowing", according to a friend. When I got home at 10PM, I saw that it was still there! And do note that around 2-3PM, I was out under the sun (with an umbrella), hanged out a bit in my country's terribly humid weather. I also hanged out for roughly an hour under the humid weather again. Talk about good wear time!
Now, the only remaining parameter for me to check is if this will cause me acne. So far, I don't see any changes in my bump on my cheek. But I am truly hoping that this will not give me any acne (my skin type is combination).
Will I recommend this? For lazy people like me who doesn't have the time (or would want to) put a lot of coverage on the face with minimal to no touch-ups, this is a good deal. Nice packaging, easy to tote around due to the size, almost no smell and moisturizing BB cream, it ain't bad!
However, I see this more of a tinted moisturizer than of a BB Cream. It doesn't promise much, as compared to its Korean peers. Guess these Western brands need to study more on what makes a BB Cream, a BB Cream.
